About Sidcup Town Centre

Council: Bexley

Phone Code: 020

Postcode Area: DA14, DA15 County: Greater London

Sidcup dominates the southern border of the borough of Bexley, flanked by both the London Borough of Bromley and Kent County Council.

For many years, Sidcup was known as the gateway to Kent and it still prides itself on offering a busy village atmosphere. A major hospital and two colleges add distinction to the area which is blessed with some fine parkland.

Sidcup town centre is the commercial heart of the local community with a good mix of well known High Street names, successful independent shops, a broad range of services, a modernised library, internet café and three popular pubs. Over 80 buses an hour serve the centre of Sidcup, complementing the 400 car-parking spaces and a train station only a short distance away.

Although Sidcup can trace its roots back to the Middle Ages as a tiny hamlet on the road from London to Maidstone, nearly 12,000 people now visit weekly to shop and go to work. Bexley Council has installed CCTV equipment to make sure that the town retains a safe and thriving character. Work has begun on a development of 38 one and two-bedroom apartments on the former Cinema site in Sidcup High Street.
